Gift Ideas: Boxed Book Sets for Children

December 10, 2012

A short list of boxed book gift sets I have read or would consider as gifts for the young readers in my family.

Red_gift_ideasGrandma’s Attic Boxed Gift Set includes four of the Grandma’s Attic series In Grandma’s Attic, More Stories From Grandma’s Attic, Still More Stories From Grandma’s Attic, and Treasures from Grandma’s Attic.  The series covers remembered stories from Grandma’s girlhood on a nineteenth century Michigan farm. Every short story has a moral lesson. Find it at Christian Book dot com

Little House on the Prairie Paperback  Boxed Set  Even if your child has read some (or all) of the Little House books, a nice boxed set is a keepsake for reading enjoyment for years to come. The nine book set includes Little House in the Big Woods, Little House on the Prairie, Farmer Boy, On the Banks of Plum Creek, By the Shores of Silver Lake, The Long Winter, Little Town on the Prairie, These Happy Golden Years, and The First Four Years. You can find it at Barnes and Noble and Walmart. The same nine titles in hardback (NOT boxed) can be found at Exodus Books.

Anne of Green Gables Soft Cover Boxed Set Wow, I didn’t even know there were so many “Anne” titles. I have only read the first two. This eight book set includes Anne of Green Gables, Anne of Avonlea, Anne of the Island, Anne of Windy Poplars, Anne’s House of Dreams, Anne of Ingleside, Rainbow Valley, and Rilla of Ingleside. Find it at Exodus Books and Amazon.

Young Women/ Coming of Age Three Book Set  This beautiful set (not boxed) of hardcover classics includes Little Women, Anne of Green Gables and The Secret Garden and can be purchased from Random House publishers.

Curious George Board Book Set  For the little reader in your house. Curious George’s antics and good humour will endure the toddler years in this set of board books containing Curious George Goes Fishing, Curious George and the Bunny, Curious George Rides and Curious George and the Rocket Find it at Christian Books

Crown and Covenant Series It seems much more difficult to find boxed book sets for older (tweens and teen) boys. While the Covenant and Crown series is not a boxed set, the three books would make a nice gift. The trilogy includes Duncan’s War, King’s Arrow, and Rebel’s Keep. Available at Crown and Covenant Publishers

Boxcar Children Book Set in “Boxcar” Box this special set of the first twelve Boxcar Children books comes in a fun boxcar container. The first nineteen Boxcar books were written by Gertrude Chandler Warner, the first in the series being published in 1942. Later books in the series were written by others.  Many sets from this 28? book series can be found. This special twelve book edition can be found at Hearth Song.
